Refund policy

We quote a fixed price in writing before work starts, and we bill against milestones. This policy explains what happens when a project stops early.

Last updated 19 August 2026

How payment is structured

Projects are billed in milestones agreed in the written quote. A booking amount confirms your slot in the schedule, and the rest follows the milestones set out in that quote.

Before work starts

If you cancel before we have started design or development, the booking amount is refunded in full, less any third party costs already paid on your behalf, such as a domain registration.

After work has started

Once a milestone has begun, that milestone is not refundable, because the time has already been spent. Milestones not yet started are refunded in full.

You keep everything produced and paid for up to that point, including the source code for completed work.

If we do not deliver

If we miss the delivery date in the written quote by more than 30 days for reasons within our control, you may cancel and we refund every milestone that has not been delivered.

Retainers and subscriptions

Maintenance and hosting retainers are month to month. Cancel with 15 days notice and you are not billed for the following month. Part months already served are not refunded.

Third party costs

Domains, hosting, paid APIs, licences and gateway fees are paid to those providers and follow their refund rules, not ours. We tell you which costs are pass through before you approve them.

How to request one

Email contact@devvariables.com with your project name and the reason. We respond within 5 working days, and approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 10 working days.
